My ASEA journey

My introduction to ASEA

My ASEA journey began on 3/23/17 at a marketing event sponsored by my daughter, Sheena Alexandra, and follow Toastmaster Lance Miller. The purpose of the event was to promote Sheena’s marketing and video production company, BeScene. One of the attendees, Ahmad Musaa, introduced me to ASEA and the next day we completed the online application process for me to get started with my monthly shipment of the product. While Musaa (he goes by his last name) made a very compelling case for ASEA, there was another important reason, explained in the following paragraph, why I did not hesitate signing up more or less on the spot.

My personal time reading interests

For most of my adult life, my interests have been more along the lines of economics and financial matters. That all changed in the early part of 2014 when I started feeling the effects of my heavy metals toxicity. My interests, and therefore my research, turned decidedly away from economics and finance and towards health. I read everything that looked like it might help me determine what was going on with my body since none of the professionals I consulted with could identify the problem (until I met Dr. Bernhoft). While I had met Dr. Bernhoft several months before I met Musaa, and was, therefore, no longer seeking the explanation for my health problem, my mind was still very receptive to new ideas regarding health. Thus, signing up for ASEA on a trial basis was an easy decision for me.

My first impressions

It did not take long for me to form a positive impression of this product. On 6/15/17, I gave a speech regarding ASEA at my Toastmasters club. I was impressed, both from its positive effects on me, personally, but also from the potential business opportunities. But before I started to promote ASEA to others, I wanted to convince myself that the product was based on valid science. The positive effects of many foods and supplements have questionable scientific basis. Plus there was my concern that ASEA might have some long term detrimental effects. As an actuarial consultant, I understand that without a sound reputation, one is soon out of business. The last thing I needed was to be associated with a product that is misrepresented. As such, I did not even think about promoting ASEA initially. I needed more proof of its effectiveness and safety.

My description of ASEA

ASEA is a cell signaling supplement based on redox signaling molecules (RSM), which is a phrase that most people (including many health professionals) are not familiar with. It is a relatively new field of scientific inquiry and one that is quite challenging to understand if you don’t have an advanced degree in cell biology. What follows is my best layman’s explanation.

My explanation of the science on which ASEA is based

The human body is made up of trillions of cells which must communicate with each other in order to perform their respective functions. The communication among cells is most significant. Without such communication, cells could not function and life would cease to exist. RSMs are a significant part of the foundation in the cell communication process. While they are produced in our body naturally, such production drops off dramatically as we age. Furthermore, RSMs have a very short life …. substantially less than one second. Until ASEA, no one had discovered how to stabilize RSMs outside of the body.

My understanding of ASEA and the science on which it is based is the result of many hours of “research”. I put “research” in quotes because the term implies considerably more understanding of the underlying science than is justified. But I have proceeded far enough to be satisfied that ASEA is not only a credible product, it is one that has so much potential to improve human health that it deserves active promotion.

My understanding of the key players in the ASEA success story

ASEA has grown significantly since its founding in 2009 which is due, in large part, to its exceptional management team. However, the following two men, neither of whom are a part of current management, deserve special recognition.

  1. Dr. Gary L. Samuelson is the person credited with discovering how to stabilize redox signaling molecules outside the body. Dr. Samuelson is an independent consultant who was awarded his PhD in the field of Atomic/Medical Physics from the University of Utah.
  2. Vertis Norton is the founder of ASEA and the one credited with having the vision to see the potential of the original science and entrepreneurial wisdom to guide the company in its formative stages. Mr. Norton is now retired.

My market approach

ASEA has invested heavily in research, much of which is documented on http://aseaglobal.com/. There is much more other material supporting not only ASEA, the product, but the science on which the product is based. In my opinion, the following steps would be an efficient approach to gain a basic understanding of ASEA (listed in the order I recommend you take them):

  1. Watch this seven minute video where Mr. Norton describes the origins of ASEA.
  2. Watch the first 60 minutes of this 90 minute video posted by Dr. Samuelson on 12/14/17 where Certified Personal Trainer Shawn Burke describes how ASEA has helped several of his clients. After viewing the first 30 minutes of this video, I had decided that it would be a good start for athletes wanting to learn about ASEA. However, after hearing Brenden Nichols’ story, it became immediately apparent to me that after the Vertis Norton video, this video should be viewed by everyone. Brenden’s story is that compelling.
  3. Read My Journey of Discovery  posted by Dr. Samuelson on 5/8/17. While all of Dr. Samuelson’s blogs  are well worth reading, it’s the 5/8/17 post that is the next logical step in the ASEA learning process, in my opinion.
  4. Read the study  “Gene Expression Profile Changes Resulting from Ingestion of ASEA Redox Dietary”. Based on Dr. Samuelson’s comments supporting the effectiveness of ASEA in the following source, it is apparent that this study is the most important to date. I will warn you that it is too technical for anyone not well versed in cell biology and statistics. But in any event, its posting on an ASEA website is an important component of the publicly available scientific validation of this product.
  5. Watch this video posted on 10/31/17 where Dr. Samuelson discusses the above referenced study. In his prepared comments, Dr. Samuelson explains, in very general terms, how the roughly 30,000 genes in our body perform functions that we do not typically think of as gene functions. The Gene Expression study establishes, in a statistically significant manner, that five genes that are important to cell communication are positively affected by the consumption of ASEA. I recommend that you view the full video, including the Q&A session, to see the extent to which highly knowledgeable individuals are interested in ASEA.
  6. Read The Science of Healing Revealed by Gary L. Samuelson, PhD
  7. Read Healthy Cells, Healthy Life by Robertson D. Ward, MD which can be ordered at www.theredoxdoc.com.
  8. Read the other blog posts by Dr. Samuelson. Here is a Table of Contents I created containing links to all of his blog posts and my summary for each one.
